BJWRR Locomotive Engineers Needed!
Locomotive engineers are the lifeblood of this organization, as we cannot run without them! The Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad is looking to add a few locomotive engineers to our roster. Are you our next engineer? This is what you can expect if you become a BJWRR Locomotive Engineer:

Up to 2 shifts a month. Scheduling will be based on volunteer preference, but we do require a minimum of once per month to remain active. Shifts can be either a full day or half day.

Throughout the year we operate the steam engines as often as a qualified steam engineer is available, and if not then we operate the diesel engines. The morning startup shift for steam operation starts 4 hours before the first train is scheduled to run. Startup shift for diesel engines starts a half hour before the first scheduled run.

In the Winter Season (November- February): A full day shift: 11:00 to 3:00pm. May be broken up into two half-shifts. Weekends only.

Spring/Summer/Fall Seasons (End of March to October): A Full day shift: 10:30am to 4:30pm. Seven days/week in the summer.

Requirements / Training etc.
Persons interested in becoming a locomotive engineer must be 18 years or older and have a signed medical form.
All locomotive engineers must begin training on the Diesel engines. Once the engineer is signed off on Diesel and has accumulated enough throttle time, they may begin training on steam locomotives.
Persons interested can call 408-395-2800 or email info@bjwrr.org to arrange a tour of the facilities.
We can’t wait to meet you!!
